A Call for Action (Typhoon Relief)

Beloved in Christ,

You’d probably celebrated the Holiday Seasons with a blast but for some of our fellow countrymen, those who had lost some reason to celebrate, they would have wished for the day to pass away so quickly. Our country recently was pounded by series of strong typhoons that brought massive flooding and destructions to several regions of the Philippines.

Typhoon Goni (local name Ineng) inundated Northern and Central Luzon and claimed 17 people dead or missing.

Typhoon Koppu (local name Lando) left Php 11B infrastructural and agricultural worth of damages in Ilocos region, Cagayan valley, province of Aurora and Central Luzon.

Typhoon Melor (local name Nona) which battered Northern Samar, Sorsogon, Masbate, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro and Central Luzon left with over Php 6B cost of damages to infrastructure and agriculture. Just after typhoon Melor exited the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR), typhoon Onyok threatens Caraga region.

Typhoon Onyok submerged some provinces in Caraga region to floodwaters.

Brothers and sisters, it is our moral responsibility to ease the suffering of others. Thus, we are called to make a collective action to help them in rebuilding their lives.

PRAY that you will feel their suffering even if you are living a comfortable life.

GIVE an offering to help ease their suffering by providing for their basic needs.

SHARE this message to others as we endeavor to help them rebuild from the ruins to a better life.

In the midst of the people’s suffering is the CHURCH. We want to empower the churches to reach out to their immediate community in the aftermath of a calamity.

May you have a very happy New Year as you reach out to those in great need.
